Life is a journey to be appreciated! I had the best Saturday of my life last weekend. The Lyndee Stairs clinic was just incredible! Scooter and I have jumped up another level. We still tons of room to improve but I love gaining more skills. That night we went to the first cattle sorting of my life. I had a blast. We went to the same sorting last night too. It was fun but I was really disappointed in myself! My other teams mates were letting cows through and I was a brat and wanted new team mates. I really need to not be so childish. Crap it popped through. I know how much words hurt and I was careless and mean. I did not intend to be mean but gosh I thought about how would I feel. Can I have a do over? I did get an impromptu cutting lesson from a local trainer and I had a great time and learned some more about the horses that I love so much. I am loving it, my walk centers me, at least for a couple hours. :) As I was walking I was seeing all the tracks left by the wildlife from the night before. It is truly remarkable at how many different animals live here and travel the same road we do. I don't always notice all the traces of activity left from the night before when I am in my pickup zooming in and out. Before I ever hit our gate I see horse, sheep, deer, snake and dog tracks. After I went out our gate I saw bunny, insect, skunk, coon, bobcat, bear and another snake. Oh I also saw the track left by the bull pine cone as it rolled into the road. I saw all those tracks this morning! I think our road is actually a wildlife freeway. As I have said before I love my home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!

Today is our daughters 24th birthday! Well I am very proud to admit that I have not disapointed myself, I am truley a dork. lol. Now the story... well I was preparing to go to work at the tack store in hopes of supporting my tack habit and I had decided to wear my pink plaid flip flops. The flip flops were dirty so I had the idea that I would put them in the shower and wash them off when I took my shower, it worked great. Then I thought oh gosh I will just dry them with the hair dryer (they are fabric) while I was drying my hair. Great idea! Worked great...but...as I am bent over in my panties (white cotton, nothing cute..lol) and my bra (very plain middle age bra) in all my middle age over weight wonder drying my flip flops with the hair. Little did I realize that the phone man was walking up to the front door with the door open and only the screen door closed. You can see just inside the bathroom for the the front door. OH GOSH. But here comes my white knight in shinning armour, also called hubby to save me from pure embarrasement! He comes in and tells me to go get some clothes on, I ask who is here? We lived wayyyyyyy out of the way and you can always hear someone comming down the road to our house and I had not heard anything. I did not even hear hubby coming home until he came in the door (probably because of the flip flop drying). So I go in my room to add to my attire and he starts laughing and tells me that the phone man is working on the phone line and was walking up to the door and well you know the rest. lol.

I have earned the title Queen Dork yet again ;~)

Life

I realized that I had not really shared the 4 legged loves of my life with everyone in quite awhile. I truley love my bay ponies. Above is Heart in her gear ready to ride. Her training is progressing so quickly this summer. I am having a ball! The second photo is of my wonderful hubby and his bay pony Ricky Bobby, yes Ricky likes to go fast. :)

Things on the fun train are picking up around here..finally! I worked the tack store today and will again on Thursday. I love working at the store because I get to see people I have not seen in years and I get to meet new people too. This weekend I get to help at an NRCHA event which going to be great fun. I might even get to meet some famous horse people, always exciting. I am also getting ready to attend a Lyndee Stairs barrel racing clinic later in August. I am having quite the horsey month.

I came across a fun blog contest when I was browsing the net this evening at http://twobarkingdogs.wordpress.com/2008/07/29/contest-you-cajuncreole-cooking-challenge-me/

What a fun blog!

More Fire!

Well we have a huge fire in Mariposa, which is about 20-30 minutes from us. I came across http://www.myshape.com/ I love it! You just take a little time and take your measurments and put them in and then it creates your own "Shop" with the clothes that will fit you. No more trying to get the right size, who knows if it is an 8 or a 12, the Shop does it for you! The book I am currently reading titled "Brave and Other Stories" by Steve M. Matthes. He was a very well know Lion Hunter in California back in the 60's and 70's. It is a great collection of stories about hounds, hunting, lions, bears and Mr. Matthes' experiences with all of the above. I am having fun reading this great book. Hubby got a hound this summer from his brother, Uncle Jimmy the Bear Hunter and with the dog came the book for us to read. It turns out that the dog hubby got is a decendent of the hounds in this book. Pretty cool!

I have also read "Girls in Trucks" by Katie Crouch.

This was a good read although pretty intense. It is the tale of the journey of a woman from childhood to womanhood. Although I am not sure the main character actually reaches adulthood. She had too many obsticles in front of her produced by her own actions. I got lost toward the end with her self sabatoge. It was a good read as a whole but not one of my favorites.

I will cover more books later.

Morning Walk

This morning on my walk I found bear tracks! They can uplift you and keep you going for days or they can bring you down for days. Why is that? Is it not a choice within our selves how we feel inside each day? The human condition is an interesting one for sure. Is is more important how others perceive us than how we perceive ourselves? I have had an interesting last couple weeks and have experienced both the ups and downs from words spoken by others and I pride myself on being able to choose my own emotions. Well apparently not. :) I have been very mindful of my words so that I don't hurt feelings or bring others down, but how many times have I done this without knowing?

Another thing that peeks my interest is the internet voice. When we read the written word on the net it is heard differently by different people. It is viewed from our own windows so to speak. Some will come away with a chipped shoulder and other with a positive response. Very interesting indeed.

June Fire

We had a dry lightning storm in June and these are the pics I took of the fire closest to our house. Well I was at the end of the year rally today and WOW the energy that I felt. The loud music was playing (gosh I will never out grow the love of loud music), the kids were chanting their class slogans and you could just cut the energy and enthusiasm with a knife. I love the honesty with ones self and the youthful energy of working with teenagers. This means I can too, carry those traits on my shirt sleeve! As we were watching the end of the year video it was very evident who the favorite teachers were and they all have a couple things in common. They are youthful in thier personalties. By youthful I mean they are comfortable in their own skin, they can laugh, they are honest and they just be! I am very happy and comfortable with the people I work with, both the students and the staff. I love going to work and being able to stay true to myself and be myself. lol.

I find this carries over into the other parts of my life. I am becoming comfortable anywhere I am. It might just be too, that I am in my 40's...lololol. How do you forget everything and leave it all out there?

My obsticle is trusting my horse and going fast...not almost fast but fast. We are stuck in almost fast, but not even close...lol. I was out last night trying to improve my speed on the barrel pattern, I did a couple practice runs, I thought we were doing really well. I thought we added quite a bit of speed and I was on my way to make a real run...yeah right. I'll give you a hint, never look at the video! lolol. I suck!!! I so totally suck!! We where not very fast at all and there were so many mistakes. How can that be, I ask? The wind was blowing through my hair, I was really going! I know it! I was trusting my horse and he was really going...NOT! lolol. Well back to the drawing board. And I think I will leave the video camera in the house. lolol.
